TRAVERTINE - CALCE MARMORINO - EGYPTIAN TEXTURE

Travertine effect which can be created on natural, ecological Calce Marmorino plaster. It is applied in a single layer, allowing us to work on it for more time on larger surfaces. The substrate does not require special levelling or application of putty. A thick layer of the product can be applied directly to cement-lime and machine-applied plasters, and to virtually any kind of plaster as it adheres very well to various substrates, covering slightly uneven surfaces. We recommend coating the final effect with Lumicca Incolore preservative paint (twice if outdoors) in order to bring out the pattern subtly and protect the decoration against dirt and soaking. The surface is highly resistant to washing and scrubbing, the natural components provide excellent water vapour permeability and prevent fungi and moulds from growing. Perfect for interiors exposed to water vapour and dirt, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and busy public interiors.

Applications

Thanks to its resistance to impact and abrasion, and good washability, it is recommended for surfaces exposed to dirt and mechanical damage, all kinds of busy public utility places, such as halls, corridors, passageways, dining rooms, bars, kitchens, living rooms, fireplaces, garages, houses, as well as in places where children and animals are present. Due to its high permeability, natural origin, alkalinity, and possibility of washing and scrubbing, it is recommended for areas for sensitive groups of people (ill or elderly people, children) and for the following interiors: kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, boiler rooms, drying rooms, restaurants, bars, public utility places such as hospitals, health centres, outpatient clinics, sanatoriums, schools, preschools, nursery schools, nursing homes, hospices, orphanages, spas, etc. Recommended for plasters on various substrates, such as mixed plasters (cement, lime, mixture), concrete, cement, gypsum-carton boards. In private and public utility interiors: walls, gypsum-carton boards, rusticated surfaces, slanted and horizontal ceilings, in rooms where an appropriate atmosphere is desired. In public utility facilities, i.e. hotels, stores, restaurants, offices, food industry, warehouses, storage rooms, etc. All kinds of prestigious locations, i.e. conference rooms, concert halls, theatres, cinemas, etc.,

Recommended for indoor and outdoor applications:

  • maintenance and restoration works including smoothing plaster and old paint,
  • new houses in accordance with the criteria of "Eco-Friendly, Green Construction".
  • renovation of old buildings that require a dehumidification system.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT, it can be applied directly to cement-lime plasters and machine-applied plaster. It does not require applying gypsum putty or levelling the surface. Recommended for all kind of substrates and prepared plasters.

Characteristics/Benefits

  • alkaline, prevents fungi, moulds, and other micro-organisms from growing.
  • resistant to washing and scrubbing when used in a system and preserved,
  • extended working time,
  • high water vapour permeability,
  • durable colour,
  • natural product and colour.

Decorative coats

Apply a layer of stirred Calce Marmorino compound with an INOX trowel to a substrate prepared in a system. Distribute the compound evenly, creating a uniform layer of appropriate thickness. The texture is created on the compound immediately after application by pressing the trowel against the surface and moving it in the direction of the compound. Additional texture on a prepared horizontal pattern can be created by touch-up painting with a hard paint brush. Just before it dries, smooth the wall out with a trowel to create the desired effect.

Colours/Selection/Rules

When selecting colours for a given interior, several factors must be taken into account as they affect our perception of the colours, aesthetics, and our mood. The swatches and the catalogues available on the market are for illustration purposes only, frequently in the form of a photography of the colour printed on single quality paper (glossy or matt) and do not represent the actual perception of the final effect. ECORSON produces original colour and texture samples of individual products to make the choice easier. Keep in mind that small, ready colours or textures in swatches may slightly differ visually from final effects in particular interiors. If you lack colour intuition, we recommend making a larger sample or hiring a Designer or Decorator who can suggest individual and appropriate choices. Keep in mind that the colour on a small swatch (even an original one) may look different on a large surface due to a number of factors such as other nearby colours that dominate the room (barely visible colour of glass panes, floor, furniture, etc.), the amount of sunlight and the time of day, direction, the type of artificial light (warm or cold, scattered or beam), and distribution of the colour. The same rule applies while selecting colours and painting outdoors as we are close to nature and affected by it. All these factors saturate the walls with their colours, tones, and shades (and vice versa), interfuse, and create collages, often beautiful. It must be taken into consideration when selecting colours. Our perception of colours is significantly affected by light. We do not recommend applying two different colours or products on corners as the colour should be determined by the shape. Have fun with colours and textures, remember that they can change a lot in our interiors, for example affect the perception of size and distance, add warmth and cosiness, or create a cold and fresh appearance. The colour and the texture may cause desired feelings and affect our mood. As it is our passion, we wish to share it with you. ECORSON team.

General application principles

All work on a given substrate should be performed and finished with products from the same production batch, with the same serial number, as there may be slight differences in the base that may affect the final colour and effect. The instructions to perform the work in a professional manner are based on basic occupational health and safety rules, and guidelines described in the following sheets: technical, application system, adapting work to conditions (i.e. temperature, humidity, drafts, etc.), and proper surface preparation.

Before we begin painting, it is very important to verify the technical condition of the substrate and follow the guidelines related to its proper preparation. The substrate should be: stable, dry, cleaned, all cavities should be filled and any fungi should be removed if necessary. Dust must be removed from the surface, as well as any built up dirt and grease. If the surface does not meet the requirements, old layers of paint, which should adhere to the substrate well and endure the adhesiveness of the new finish, must be removed mechanically. When working on mineral textures that have never been painted, ensure they are clean and free of defects (new plasters should be painted after 3-4 weeks of stabilisation or after the time indicated by the producer of the plaster, putty, filler, etc.)

In order to achieve a level and homogeneous surface on a given substrate, the work should be performed by a single person using the same tools, with a short application time (without pauses) for each coat so the whole wall may be covered with wet paint.

The final effect depends on the user's skills, tools, and the amount of product applied. Therefore, the efficiency, samples, and other parameters presented here are illustrative and approximate only, calculated based on several years of experience and research, applicable to optimal climatic conditions (approx. +23°C and 65% humidity). The parameters may change in other conditions. However, due to a great variety of substrates and application conditions, it is necessary to verify the product and its effectiveness by testing it individually under given conditions.

If the surface requires washing, the whole wall must be washed with similar motions and using the same tools and liquids. Wash the tools with water immediately after use. ECORSON is not responsible for non-intended use of the product and uses inconsistent with the principles, also when used beyond our reasonable control.
